These training tools are made from hardwood and crafted in the USA.  Amish wood craftsman who take the greatest pride in their work make these wonderful tools.  Not cheap oriental wood here, but rather the real thing.  These tools hold up under training conditions!
All my wooden weapons are made from air-dried wood. Commercial ones are all from klyn dried wood which is both heavier and weaker then the air-dried. The difference is time, about two days to klyn dry and about two years to air dry. My weapons are made from Hickory, Ash or Oak wood. All the naganatas, yari, subarito, bokken, some canes, tanto, and shoto are hickory wood. The other canes are ash and have a thicker diameter then the hickory while being equally strong. The bo, jo, and hanbo are usually oak, but if good knot free Oak is not available I then use Ash. The duks, shoto, and tanto I make myself from a hickory tree I cut down on my own property, it has been air drying for over 3 years now.
